The battery was disconnected on this car, but it’s since gone a couple hundred miles in many driving regimes and I get a P1000 code for the Cat Monitor not completed. (I may have inaccurate jargon there, but if you’re in the know, you’ll know what I mean.) Anybody have any experience with this? This is a 2010 P71 Vic. <>

Thank you NKato and BrianGriffin for your interest and support. I will search the forum(s) you have mentioned previously. Folks on Oppo love to weigh in with their knowledge, so I wanted to post here as well.

Have you read this yet? Same story, threw a P1000 after disconnecting his battery. Followed by a link and text that I’m too dumb to know what any of it means but YOU! YOU can do it.

it’s definitely because of the battery pull (P1000 is a Ford-specific code indicating codes were recently cleared and the car is not ready for emissions test) but why it hasn’t gone away yet is beyond me.  Just keep driving, I guess, if there’s anything truly amiss the CEL will come on.  You can’t clear that code manually BTW.

Thank you. I thought of you this morning when I saw a Toyota Longbed from the 70s.

I’ve driven it quite a bit. Zoidberg sent me a link with the FoMoCo prescription for clearing the code, which is lengthy and challenging.

I can’t really help you wi th your problem but the term you’re looking for is “driving cycles”

Yes, and I have Ford’s. I’ve done everything on the list, just not in that specific order.

It took my p71 an absurdly long time to set the catalyst readiness to “ready” - I have a copy of the OBDII manual for it and it’s no wonder why: there are a lot of requirements for conditions for it to do all its tests. Evap is similar. My suggestion to you is to drive the car in varying ways, including letting it sit for a day.

That's what I was thinking. Well, hoping really, that the thing would eventually reset.

How long did it wind up taking?

If I was just driving to and from work, it flat out wouldn’t. I had to intentionally go on some longer routes to get there at different speeds. In normal mixed driving I’d guess a few days

I left it sit for two days and started it just now and the monitor has reset. So leaving it sit may have been the secret sauce.
